Sorbus torminalis is usually a tree of a lineage of roses with high height and rusty or purple branches that gradually turns livid. Its lowest altitude is 500 meters above sea level and its highest point is 2400. It is one of the rare species in the northern forests.
Due to the lack of a clear border between the annual rings, Sorbus torminalis does not seem to have any prominent designs. it is very dense and has a high price in Europe. For this reason, it has been called “forest caviar”. This tree is light-loving and therefore does not go deep into the forest. The fruit is prepared to dushab (a kind of jam-shaped drink for breakfast). It has beautiful leaves and wood turned to colorful leaves in autumn. There are two types of Hyrcanian forests. Sorbus umbellata is a small tree with a spherical crown. The young branches are brown or black and then turn gray.
Sorbus umbellate is a variety of sorbus torminalis that grows at altitudes of 2000-2200 meters above sea level. The leaves are round or oval dark green with a gray felt on the back
